Abstract | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a relay device and a relay method that reduce power consumption of a gateway device, and in particular lengthen battery drive time of a mobile gateway device.SOLUTION: A relay device is configured that a block to control power supply to a LAN (local area network) side communication unit and a block to control power supply to a WAN (wide area network) side communication unit are separated and power sources of the respective communication units can be individually controlled, and power source control is performed such that power supply to the LAN communication unit is started after it has been confirmed that communication at a WAN side is possible on start-up. If communication in the WAN side is cut off due to moving to an area out of communication of BS during a gateway operation, the relay device is configured that the power source control is performed such that power supply to the LAN communication unit is stopped to reduce power consumption. |
