Abstract PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a handwritten character input system capable of reducing the occurrence of a mismatch between various data stored in on-vehicle machine and a next character candidate predicting dictionary stored in an operation machine while reducing deterioration in response.SOLUTION: The handwritten character input system (multimedia device 1) includes: a various data updating part 109 for updating various data stored in a large-capacity information storage device 120; and a next character candidate predicting dictionary updating part 111 for updating a next character candidate predicting dictionary 222 stored in an external memory 220 by using radio communication between the on-vehicle machine 100 and a remote controller 200 on the basis of the update of the various data stored in the large-capacity information storage device 120 by the various data updating part 109.
