Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a grounding electrode of a spark plug and ferritic stainless steel for a central electrode, each of which achieves both scale-peeling resistance and thermal conductivity at the high temperature of 1,000°C and is excellent in workability and weldability.SOLUTION: A metallic electrode member is used for the central electrode or grounding electrode of a spark plug provided with the central electrode 1 and the grounding electrode 2 whose one end is arranged so as to face the central electrode through the spark-discharging interval. The electrode member of the spark plug is constituted with the ferritic stainless steel, which contains Cr of 10-35 mass%, C of 0.03 mass% or less, N of 0.03 mass% or less, Mn of 1.5 mass% or less, and S of 0.008 mass% or less, and further contains one or more kinds of Si of 0.3-2.5 mass% or Al of 0.6-6.0 mass%, and the total content of Si and Al is adjusted to 1.5 mass% or more, and in which the remainder comprises Fe and inevitable impurities. |
