Abstract | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide methods, compositions, and tools for facilitating integration between a cartilage substitution system and surrounding cartilage, for repairing articular surface repair materials, and for repairing an articular surface.SOLUTION: A method of designing an articular implant comprises the steps of obtaining an image of a joint, wherein the image includes at least one of normal cartilage and diseased cartilage; reconstructing dimensions of the diseased cartilage surface to correspond to the normal cartilage; and designing the articular implant to match the dimensions of the reconstructed diseased cartilage surface or to match an area greater than the diseased cartilage surface. The image comprises MRI, CT, ultrasound, digital tomosynthesis, optical coherence tomography and combinations thereof. |
