Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an aluminum alloy sheet for a can top, in which anisotropy of glossiness due to a rolling direction is reduced, and error detection in appearance inspection can be prevented, and to provide a method for producing the same.SOLUTION: In the aluminum alloy sheet for a packaging container top, rolled using a work roll whose surface has been subjected to electrical discharge machining in the final pass in cold rolling, the arithmetic average roughness Ra of the surface lies in the range of 0.10 to 0.65 μm in the rolling direction and in the direction orthogonal to the rolling direction in the cold rolling, and the roughness curve element average length RSm in the surface is 70 to 360 μm in the rolling direction and is 50 to 100 μm in the direction orthogonal to the rolling direction. In the aluminum alloy sheet for a packaging container top having such surface properties, the difference in normal reflectance (%) between the rolling direction and the direction orthogonal to the rolling direction is ≤25%, and the anisotropy of glossiness is reduced.
