A method for manufacturing an electronic paper 100 comprising a pair of substrates 10, 20 opposing to each other and a barrier wall layer 31 having barrier walls 30 disposed between the pair of substrates is provided, the method including a step of applying a paste material 32 on the first substrate 10 and a step of forming the barrier wall layer 31 including barrier walls 30 by generating cells 35 in the paste material 32.
