PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pump impeller for effectively removing air pockets; and to provide a submerged pump. SOLUTION: The non-clog type pump impeller 1 includes a flow path 18 formed inside an approximately cylindrical body 10 into a spiral shape in axial view while communicating with a suction part 13 on a lower end face 15 to a discharge part 14 on a side face 16. On the outer periphery side of a boss 12 on an upper end face 11 of the body 10, a first recess 21 is formed which is recessed in the axial direction. On the outer periphery side of the suction part 13 on the lower end face 15 of the body 10, a second recess 22 is formed which is recessed in the axial direction. One or more communication holes 23 are provided in communication with the first recess 21 to the second recess 22. Sewage water is introduced from the side of the second recess 22 through the communication holes 23 to the side of the first recess 21, thus effectively removing air pockets from the upper end face 11 of the impeller 1 and the first recess 21.
