Abstract | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve practicability of a veneer drying method using a hot plate type drying apparatus to achieve efficient drying treatment attaining energy saving. SOLUTION: The drying apparatus is constituted to bore the suitable number of storage grooves 3a in the upper heating surface of each of hot plates 3 provided in multiple stages, to store veneer transfer members 1 of substantially long saw shape with suitable length with a large number of piercing bodies 1a projected in parallel on the upper side, into the storage grooves 3a and to reciprocate the veneer transfer members 1 with veneers (a) placed thereon, in the lateral direction of the hot plates 3 to alternately transfer the veneers (a) to the inside and outside of the spaces of the hot plates 3. Using such a drying apparatus, in any stage of multiple stages, operation of drying the veneer (a) carried in from a carry-in port on the left front side of the drying apparatus, by hot pressing of the hot plate 3 and carrying out the veneer (a) to a carry-out port on the left rear side of the drying apparatus, and operation of drying the veneer (a) carried in from a carry-in port on the right front side of the drying apparatus, by hot pressing of the hot plate 3 and carrying out the veneer (a) to a carry-out port on the right rear side of the drying apparatus, are alternately performed to dry the veneers (a) with almost no break.
