Abstract | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display apparatus in which external light to be made incident on a thin film transistor is shielded, and the aperture ratio of a pixel is improved. SOLUTION: The thin film transistor TFT in a pixel zone of the liquid crystal display apparatus has: a gate electrode GT; a semiconductor layer AS arranged above the gate electrode GT; and a drain electrode DT and a source electrode which are arranged on the upper layer of the semiconductor layer AS. The semiconductor layer AS has an extended part formed to be projected from a gate electrode GT formation zone in the extending direction of a drain signal line DL.
