Abstract PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problems wherein a molten metal sheath solidifies on the bottom of a cylindrical container to cause difficulty in removing an OF cable and trouble in recovering metal. SOLUTION: Equipment and method are provided for melting the metal sheath of the OF cable by induction heating to recover the metal sheath prior to heat treatment for separating PCB-contaminated insulating oil. In a heating chamber 6, there are provided a pipe 2 for housing the OF cable 1, a coil 3 for induction-heating the metal sheath, a recovery container 4 for receiving molten metal from the OF cable 1, and a retainer 5 capable of retaining the OF cable 1 and pipe 2 over the recovery container 4.
