Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a quarternary cationic vinyl monomer that has good compatibility with a resin or an organic solvent, is insoluble in water, has high hydrolysis resistance, imposes little burden on the environment because it is halogen-free, is suitably used in various kinds of electrochemical devices and has an excellent antistatic effect, to provide an antistatic agent composed of the monomer and to provide an antistatic resin composition. SOLUTION: The cationic vinyl monomer represented by formula (1) of an onium salt composed of ammonium as a positive ion and a tetraphenylborate ion as a negative ion (in formula (1), R1represents a hydrogen atom or a methyl group; R2and R3each independently represent a 1-3C alkyl group; R4represents a 1-3C alkyl or alkenyl group or a benzyl group; Y represents an oxygen atom or -NH-; and Z represents a 1-3C alkylene group) is synthesized and the monomer and/or an oligomer or polymer thereof as an antistatic active ingredient is coated on a substrate to form an antistatic layer.
