Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus configured such that an accurate time taken to finish printing is calculated before printing and a user is informed of this time, and if the informed time exceeds a time requested by the user, printing is finished within a desired time without dropping throughput. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes a nozzle for jetting ink onto a recording medium, a piezoelectric element for jetting the ink from the nozzle, and a head driving circuit for outputting a drive signal for causing the piezoelectric element to perform an ink jetting operation. The apparatus comprises a means for estimating the temperature of the head driving circuit based on the data of a print job and calculating a printing time taken to finish printing including a print performance time and print quiescent time; and a means for suppressing a temperature rise of the head driving circuit so as to finish printing within the desired printing time when a printing time shorter than the calculated printing time is set as a desired printing time and for performing print.
