PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a facility for continuous casting which have a zone for soft reduction with rolls for soft reduction and which adequately and efficiently heats the shorter side of the zone according to the temperature distribution regardless of cooling the full width of the longer side of the zone or cooling the longer side of the zone with smaller amount of water as a secondary cooling without increasing the roll force for soft reduction, which reduces the central segregation caused by soft reduction. SOLUTION: The facility for continuous casting includes: around the entrance of the F zone, one or more plasma torches T arranged at the outer side of both side surfaces of the slab H; the shorter sides S of the slab H irradiated with plasma arc P under an alternative magnetic field by an electromagnetic coil 34; and the plasma torches T1-T3 whose outputs are controlled to control the average temperature of the cross-section of the shorter sides of the slab at the soft reduction zone.
