Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform vector control having excellent control performance. SOLUTION: A motor drive apparatus is provided with an A/D converter 30 which obtains motor currents flowing in respective phases of a motor 200 to output a first motor current that is A/D-converted, an arithmetic unit 10 which generates a second motor current from the first motor current, obtains a first motor voltage based on the second motor current, a motor parameter and a desired rotational angular speed and generates a second motor voltage from the first motor voltage, and a PWM generator 20 which generates a PWM signal for driving the motor 200 based on the second motor voltage. The arithmetic unit 10 is provided with a parameter estimator 14 which calculates a motor resistance and a motor inductance based on a maximum peak value and a minimum peak value of the second motor current in a DC excitation control state, and calculates a motor inductive voltage constant based on the second motor current in a forced commutation control state, and the calculated motor resistance and motor inductance.
