Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotating electric machine having a temperature detecting means capable of preventing deterioration in accuracy of detection due to a cooling medium. SOLUTION: A temperature measuring sensor 51 having a temperature measuring element 52 is disposed away from a coil end 22b of a stator coil of a motor, and the temperature measuring sensor 51 measures the temperature of a lead-out conductor 22c led out from the coil end 22b, thereby detecting the temperature of the stator coil. In this way, an oil 40 as a cooling medium for cooling the stator coil by permeating the coil end 22b can hardly cool the temperature measuring sensor 51, and the temperature measuring sensor 51 can be prevented from being deteriorated in temperature detection due to the oil 40. Also, the temperature measuring sensor 51 is covered with a heat insulating body 56 together with at least part of the lead-out conductor 22c. With this configuration, if the oil 40 moves to the temperature measuring sensor 51, the heat insulating body 56 can prevent the oil 40 from directly contacting the temperature measuring sensor 51 and cooling the temperature measuring sensor 51, and thus, the accuracy deterioration of the temperature measuring sensor 51 due to the oil 40 can be further prevented.
