Abstract | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an image recording medium on which an image is formed free from the effect of failure in transfer of print data. SOLUTION: In the image forming apparatus 10, when a print datum for a preset invisible image is created together with Y, M, C, and K print data generated on the basis of image data by an image processing section 70, these print data are output to the respective driving circuits 78 Y, 78M, 78C, 78K and 78F of a printing engine 14. Thus, emission of light from semiconductor lasers 42Y. 42M, 42C, 42K, and 42F are controlled according to the corresponding print data. When an infrared ray is emitted together with Y, M, C, and K visible images, an invisible image for reflecting infrared ray is formed. The invisible image is detected by a detection sensor 88 and collated with an original image, thereby determining whether a visible image is appropriately formed on the recording paper.
