Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a damping structure obtaining a sufficient damping effect even against a vibration of small amplitude by promoting the motion of powder and granular materials in a hollow body. SOLUTION: In the damping structure in which a damping member 2 is provided on the structure 1 as a damped object, the damping member 2 is constituted of the hollow body 5 filled with the powder and granular materials 3 except a partial space 4, at least part of the wall surface part 6 of the hollow body 5 constitutes a vibrating wall surface part 7 vibrating more greatly than the structure 1 on receiving vibration. Preferably, part of the wall surface part 6 of the hollow body 5 is constituted of the vibrating wall surface part 7 which is lower in rigidity and/or lighter in weight than other sections.
