Abstract PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video reception device that is structured so that a communication condition in a best effort type IP communication network can be displayed to allow a user to easily understand. SOLUTION: A receiver 1 includes: an IP broadcast tuner portion 16 for acquiring packet information including the total number of packets to be received and the number of actually-received packets from a UDP packet received via an IP network; a packet reception rate calculation portion 25a for calculating a packet reception rate or a packet loss rate based on the acquired packet information; an OSD processing portion 19 for generating an OSD signal for displaying a communication condition by the calculated packet reception rate or packet loss rate; and a liquid-crystal display portion 29 for displaying the generated OSD signal.
