Abstract | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lighting system, which can attain effective use of solar energy by providing a new setting place of a solar panel. SOLUTION: The lighting system 10 includes a light source 11, a chromic element 12 which is switchable between a state for reflecting light from the light source 11 and solar light and a state for transmitting the light from the light source 11 and solar light; and a solar panel 13 provided on the side opposite to the light source 11 of the chromic element 12. While the light source 11 is extinguished, the chromic element 12 is made transparent to guide solar light to the solar panel 13 for power generation. On the other hand, when the light source 11 is lighted, the chromic element 12 is made to mirror surface to reflect the light of the light source 11, whereby the original lighting function is exhibited.
