Abstract PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mixture of intermediates giving a liquid crystal compound of a high luminance-improvement rate excellent in orientation, a method for producing the same, and a mixture of liquid crystal compounds. SOLUTION: There are provided a mixture of a compound represented by formula (I) and a compound represented by formula (II), wherein the compound represented by formula (II) is contained in an amount of 3.5 to 12 wt.%, a method for producing the same, and a liquid crystal compound made from the mixture as a raw material.
