Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrostatic roll cleaner including a roll cleaner which comprises a compliant foam underlayer where the coating of a conductive woven fabric, nonwoven fabric, braided fabric or knit fabric is applied, and to provide a cleaning station. SOLUTION: The electrostatic roll cleaner for use in cleaning the surface of a xerographic marking system, comprises: a compliant foam layer; and a coating comprising a conductive fabric overcoating the foam layer. The conductive fabric is woven fabric, nonwoven fabric, braided fabric or knit fabric and has average roughness, Ra, not exceeding about 8 μm to 10 μm and surface resistivity in the range of 3.5×104to 2.2×1011Ω/square. The conductive fabric is configured, because of the average roughness, to minimize toner accumulation therein, and the conductive fabric has yarns of similar thickness to provide a smooth and uniform surface texture.
