Abstract | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ultrasonic diagnostic apparatus by which a tomographic image at a proper gain level can be obtained without operator's complicated operation. SOLUTION: A gain control part 107 includes: an offset pattern generation part 107d which generates at least one offset pattern by an offset value with respect to the luminance of each pixel on the basis of luminance information of each pixel of a tomographic image frame; and a gain determination part 107c which determines, on the basis of the offset patterns, at least one of a total gain consisting of one offset value used for the whole tomographic image frame, a depth direction gain having an offset value used in the depth direction of the tomographic image frame, a scanning direction gain having an offset value used in the scanning direction of the tomographic image frame, and a frame gain having an offset value used for each pixel of the tomographic image frame, and determines a setting gain on the basis of at least one determined.
