Abstract | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide: a flame-retardant resin composition having excellent flexibility and external damage resistance; a covered electric wire; and a cable. SOLUTION: The flame-retardant resin composition contains a non-acid-modified styrene elastomer free from acid modification, a particulate metal hydroxide, an alkyl β-carboxyacrylate attached to the surface of the metal hydroxide particle and a maleic acid-modified styrene-ethylene-butylene-styrene elastomer, wherein the total amount of the particulate metal hydroxide and the alkyl β-carboxyacrylate is 35-60 pts.mass and the amount of the maleic acid-modified styrene-ethylene-butylene-styrene elastomer is 0.5-5 pts.mass based on 100 pts.mass of the non-acid-modified styrene elastomer.
