Abstract PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem of a password, which is used to secure the validity of a transaction in an ATM set in a store of financial institution or the like or in electronic commerce such as on-line shopping, wherein, although a pun is often used to memorize the password easily as a method, a user comes to forget a randomly selected numeric string, and consequently tends to use a number of his interest automatically, causing the problem in security aspect. SOLUTION: A password generation method generates an optional code to generate a temporary password based on the code, reads pun data corresponding to the temporary password from a pun data table 35, and presents it to a user, thus deciding the password.
