Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an X-ray generating device of compact and light-weight which can generate stably X-rays of an intensity of a certain level or more with a small power, without requiring a vacuum exhaust device and with almost the same level of airtight structure of the package as a conventional one. SOLUTION: The X-ray generating device is provided with a container 1 which maintains a high vacuum or a low-pressure gas atmosphere inside, at least one hemimorphic crystal 4 arranged in the container, temperature raising means 3 and 5 to 7 to raise or lower the temperature of the hemimorphic crystal, a field emission electron source 9 which is arranged in the container and can control emission of electrons from the outside, and a metal target for X-ray generation 8 which is arranged within a reaching range of an electric field generated by the hemimorphic crystal thermally excited by the temperature raising means in the container, and receives irradiation of electron beams from the hemimorphic crystal or the field emission electron source or from both of them.
