Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve an operability of an operating section and to simplify work for operating the operating section, in searching for a candidate of a spot. SOLUTION: A navigation device includes a displaying section 35, a spot input screen forming processing means, to form in the displaying section 35 a name input screen, in which a name of the spot written in Kana-characters is input using letters in Roman characters; a character-fixing and determining process means for determining whether kana-characters are fixed according to whether an alphabet representing a vowel is input following an alphabet representing a consonant in the name input screen; a candidate search processing means for searching, if a Kana-character is fixed; a candidate for the spot which corresponds to the fixed Kana-character, and a candidate number display processing means for displaying in the displaying section 35 the number of candidates of the spots searched. Operability of the operating section 34 can be improved, because the Kana-character is fixed, if an alphabet representing a vowel is input following an alphabet which represents a consonant.
