Abstract PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical transmitter capable of accurately controlling a drive amplitude of a modulation signal so as to suppress variations thereof in accordance with a change in the ambient temperature of a drive circuit. SOLUTION: The drive circuit of an external modulator, which modulates emitted light from a light source based on an input signal, includes: a voltage supply means for supplying to the external modulator a drive voltage corresponding to the input signal while superimposing it on a DC bias voltage; a control means for setting an amplitude of the drive voltage; and a voltage detection means for detecting the drive voltage supplied from the voltage supply means to the external modulator, wherein the control means fetches a detection output of the voltage detection means and controls the voltage supply means on the basis of the detection output in such a way that the drive voltage becomes a predetermined amplitude value.
