Abstract | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a calking method of a pinion shaft capable of easily calking both ends of a pinion shaft at the same time. SOLUTION: A calking method of a pinion shaft includes a step (A) in which one carrier side plate is placed on a movable member that can move vertically by elastic deformation, a step in which a first calking tool is positioned in a through-hole of the carrier side plate placed on the movable member, and the position of the first calking tool relative to the movable member before moving is adjusted to be a specified position, a step (B) in which the pinion shaft is assembled in the through-hole 4 of a pair of carrier side plates in such a way that one end of the pinion shaft is placed on the first calking tool, and a calking step (C) in which a load is applied from the other end of the pinion shaft by a second calking tool arranged coaxially with the first calking tool, and both ends of the pinion shaft are calked at the same time while the movable member is moved in the load direction.
