PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a spare ink cartridge to be prepared prior to printing starting by judging on the basis of a use hysteresis such as the previous printing number of sheets whether or not the present ink residual quantity is an ink residual quantity whereby printing to be carried out from now can be completed, and informing a user in advance if the ink residual quantity is insufficient. SOLUTION: It is determined from both a sum of the number of sheets (estimated number of sheets) of the same month as and next month to the present month in a printing number of sheet management table in which the printing number of sheets for each month in the previous one year is accumulated as the use hysteresis dependent on date and time, and the present ink residual quantity which of conditions of a display determination condition table it corresponds to (step 201). When it corresponds, a replacement recommendation screen of the ink cartridge is displayed at a display part (steps S202-S204), informing the user in advance whether or not the present ink residual quantity is the ink residual quantity, whereby printing to be carried out from now can be completed.
