Abstract PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a smelting method for efficiently recovering valuable metals such as copper and lead, from a copper-containing dross that is produced in a smelting process of smelting zinc and/or lead. SOLUTION: This smelting method includes charging the copper-containing dross that contains copper and lead into a fuming furnace in which a fuming treatment of a slag that is produced in a smelting furnace for smelting zinc and/or lead is operated under the coexistence of copper, and heating the mixture to reduce the metals.
