Abstract PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and method for detection of rotor eccentricity baseline shift. SOLUTION: A method to measure eccentricity of a rotor in a turbine (10) includes: a step (56) of collecting sensor data (18) of rotor eccentricity for a plurality of startup operations (54); a step of establishing a baseline eccentricity value (84) using the sensor data corresponding to a selected startup operation; a step (90) of measuring an eccentricity value using the filtered sensor data for each of a plurality of startup operations subsequent to the selected startup operation; a step (98) of measuring a rotor eccentricity difference between the baseline eccentricity value and each of the eccentricity values for the plurality of startup operations subsequent to the selected startup operation; and steps (92, 94, 96, 98, 100, 102, 104, 112) of reporting a rotor eccentricity condition based on the rotor eccentricity difference.
