PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video reproducing device capable of reproducing (outputting) subtitles of a desired language together with video by translating subtitles of a language acquired from a recording medium into subtitles of the desired language when the language of the subtitles stored in the recording medium to be reproduced is different from the desired language. SOLUTION: The video reproducing device is used which reproduces video data and subtitle data from the recording medium containing video data, audio data, and the subtitle data, wherein an extraction unit 151 extracts the subtitle data, and a translation unit 152 translates the language of the extracted subtitle data into the different language, so that the subtitle data of the translated language can be reproduced together with the video data.
