Abstract PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily recover the viscosity of the ink even if the ink increased in its viscosity is located in a nozzle and in the vicinity of the nozzle. SOLUTION: At the time of the maintenance of a K color recording head 20-1, a shielding plate 62 is moved in the same direction as the longitudinal direction of a nozzle plate 26 in the state to be opposed to the nozzle plate 26 of the K color recording head 20-1 together with this. Thereby, the space formed by the nozzle plate 26, the shielding plate 62 and the mask plate 25 is fully filled with the ink, and the decrease in the pressure Pa in the K color recording head 20-1 is prevented.
