Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve carrying performance by preventing change in the carrying performance and minimizing effects of eccentricity (or distortion) of a carrying roller on carrying operation, in a sheet carrying device for carrying sheets by bringing the sheets into pressure contact with the outer peripheral face of the carrying roller in one portion in the circumferential direction of the carrying roller and rotating and driving the carrying roller. SOLUTION: Before carrying of one sheet is started, a calculation part 1011 calculates a rotation initial position minimizing effects of eccentricity of the carrying roller 51 on the sheet carrying operation, as a rotation initial position of the carrying roller 51. With respect to each carrying operation of one sheet, before starting the carrying operation, a control part 101 controls the rotation of the carrying roller 51 by a pulse motor 1142 based on a detection result of the rotating position of the carrying roller 51 by an encoder 1144, so as to make the rotating position of the carrying roller 51 correspond to the rotation initial position calculated by the calculation part 1101.
