PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To carry out a process of detecting a right-end edge position of a medium in short time in a print medium handling device of a passbook, etc. SOLUTION: The print medium handling device includes a transporting means which transports a medium to a transport path, a first sensor which is disposed on the transport path and detects the width of the medium, a print carrier which moves in the direction orthogonal to the transporting direction of the medium and is loaded with a print head, a second sensor loaded on the print carrier for detecting the right-end edge of the medium, and a control unit which acquires the width information of the medium from a signal detected by the first sensor and carries out control so that the print carrier is moved and the right-end edge of the medium is detected by the second sensor.
