Abstract | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a seal layer transfer type metal gasket capable of effectively preventing the deterioration of sealing performance caused by the wearing and peel-off of a coating layer. SOLUTION: In the head gasket 1 interposed between a cylinder block 2 and a cylinder head 3, seal layers 20, 21 in which a peel-off layer, a coating layer and an adhesive layer are superposed in this order from a bead plate side are formed on the surface of the bead plate 10 opposed to at least the cylinder block 2 and the cylinder head 3. In such a state that the head gasket 1 is interposed between the cylinder block 2 and the cylinder head 3 and these three members are closely adhered, the adhesive layer is adhered to a member to be sealed, and at least a part of the coating layer and the adhesive layer is peeled off from the bead plate 10 with the peel-off layer as a border.
