Abstract | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device capable of more improving user's convenience of luminance adjustment and being easily changed into a luminance control mode wherein power-saving effect is high. SOLUTION: The display device includes: a luminance control unit 15a which controls the luminance of a display unit 11 in one of a first luminance control mode wherein the luminance of the display unit 11 is varied according to ambient lightness of the display unit 11 detected by a sensor 13, a second luminance control mode wherein the display unit 11 is held at previously set luminance, and a third luminance control mode wherein the luminance of the display unit 11 is held at a minimum luminance value, a first operation unit 16 which is operated to change the luminance control mode of the luminance control unit 15a; and a switching control unit 15b which switches the luminance control mode of the luminance control unit 15a in response to the operation of the first operation unit 16.
