Abstract | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a coke, which can flexibly correspond to the change in the brand of raw material coal and can realize the large reduction of coke production cost. SOLUTION: This method for producing high strength coke, comprising treating a coal mixture comprising a plurality of brands of coals in a classification process and a crushing process and then charging the treated coal mixture into a coke oven, is characterized by preliminarily making an expression for quantitatively predicting the strength of coke to be produced from at least two selected from coal particle sizes when shipped, average maximum reflectivity, Gieseler highest flow rate, total inert quantity, and Hardgrove index, of each brand of coal, as subordinate parameters, estimating a strength-improving effect with the expression, classifying the coal mixture into coal (X) having a high strength-improving effect or into coal (Y) having a lower strength-improving effect than that of the coal (X), and then treating at least one part of the coal (X) in the classification process.
