PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ion exchange membrane electrolytic cell capable of keeping an interval between electrodes so as to have a prescribed distance. SOLUTION: In the ion exchange membrane electrolytic cell, at least one of the electrode is brought into contact with a flat plate like spring body forming a space with the electrode chamber partition joined to a flat plate type electrode chamber partition wall by a belt like joining part and formed in the electrode side of an electrode holding member to be energized, the electrode has a connection part extending to the direction perpendicular to an electrode surface at a right angle from a surface parallel to an ion exchange membrane to the electrode holding member side, and the connection part is provided with an opening part for engaging which extends in the direction perpendicular to the electrode surface at a right angle and the opening part for engaging is engaged with an engagement member to allow the electrode to be moved in the vertical direction to the electrode surface within a range where the flat plate spring like body is displaced.
