Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a discharge lamp lighting circuit capable of suppressing movement of a bright point in lighting a discharge lamp at high frequency. SOLUTION: This discharge lamp lighting circuit 1 is used for supplying A.C. power for lighting the discharge lamp L to the discharge lamp L. The discharge lamp lighting circuit 1 is provided with a power supply part 2 supplying the A.C. power to the discharge lamp L, and a control part 10 for controlling the value of the A.C. power. The power supply part 2 includes a series resonance circuit including transistors 5a and 5b, a transformer 7, a capacitor 8 and an inductor 9, and a bridge driver 6 driving the transistors 5a and 5b. The control part 10 drives the bridge driver 6 to intermittently increase the A.C. power. Thereby, electrode temperature can be raised while setting a time average value of supply power within a rated value, whereby movement of a bright point can be effectively suppressed in lighting the discharge lamp L at high frequency.
