Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a primary coated optical fiber excellent in resistance against yellowing. SOLUTION: The primary coated optical fiber is characterized in that it is constituted by forming a coating composed of ultraviolet-curing resin on the outer circumference of a glass optical fiber bare wire and that an unreactive photoinitiator quantity in 1 g of the coating material is ≤2.4×10-3mol equivalent. The ultraviolet-curing resin is characterized in that it contains urethane acrylate whose poly isocyanate component is aromatic group based poly isocyanate and that tolylenediisocyanate is used as the aromatic group based poly isocyanate.
