Abstract PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spring actuated electromagnetic brake capable of increasing brake torque without enlarging outer diameter, or reducing size and weight while maintaining brake torque. SOLUTION: The spring actuated electromagnetic brake 20 is provided with a flat plate disk 22 perpendicular to a rotary shaft fixed to rotate as one body with a braked rotary shaft 1 via a hub 21, a yoke 23 arranged in one side of the disk 22, an armature 24 arranged between the disk 22 and the yoke 23 in such a manner that the same can move in an axial direction but can not rotate, and a cup shape shell 25 covering the disk 22 and the armature 24 and arranged to fit on an outer circumference of the yoke 23. The yoke 23 is provided with an excitation coil 23c and a coil spring 23e. The shell 25 is fixed on the yoke by a pin 26 fastened to make a head part end surface not project out of an outer circumference surface of the yoke. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
