PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus and an image processing method capable of controlling provision of functions according to an instruction of instruction information corresponding to an image pattern of image data. SOLUTION: The image processing apparatus includes: an acquisition means for acquiring the instruction information from the image data with the image pattern expressed in a form corresponding to the instruction information for instructing rejection of provision of the functions; and a control means for controlling execution of the functions on the basis of the instruction information acquired by an acquisition apparatus. Through the configuration above, the provided functions can be limited on the basis of the information of the image data themselves. For example, the functions whose provision is limited in a composite machine with a plurality of functions can be changed for each document by diversified designation methods.
