Abstract PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently acquire information which can be effectively utilized in designing a structure, etc. and to obtain also quantitative design data to the structure which shows complicated nonlinear behaviors in a design support system for a structure, etc. SOLUTION: A design support system for a structure, etc. comprises a sensitivity analysis system 1 which finds sensitivity to variation of a design parameter by a finite element method. The sensitivity analysis system 1 comprises a means to find the sensitivity of an element rigidity matrix according to central finite difference approximation which gives the amount of variations of a design parameter to the element rigidity matrix and has the secondary accuracy, and a means to find a series of simultaneous equations of finite element method by perturbation method using this found sensitivity.
