Abstract | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical waveguide module in which branching from the main waveguide core to a monitor waveguide core can be performed in a manner saving space and making conversion in the propagation direction larger. SOLUTION: The optical waveguide module is equipped with the main waveguide core 74 as a multi-mode optical waveguide for propagating light emitted from a light emitting element 70, the monitor waveguide core 76 branching from the main waveguide core, and a light receiving element 78 for receiving light outgoing from the monitor waveguide core. This module is characterized in that a part or all of the boundary with holes existing in the main waveguide core is made a reflection area and that, on this reflection area, a part of the propagation light is converted to the monitor waveguide core and guided to the light receiving element.
