PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an improved method of operating a high pressure discharge lamp and a system thereof for operating each high pressure discharge lamps. SOLUTION: The method of operating the high pressure discharge lamp includes rotating the discharge lamp around the long axes thereof by rotating means. The lamp or the lamp assembly including the discharge lamp and a reflector can be rotated at a specific angle by a specific number of rotations or specific time intervals, or when a plurality of specific events are generated. The discharge lamp is rotated when the lamp is supplied with no power or when the lamp is supplied with power. The discharge lamp is allowed to rotate at a predetermined angles before or after the operation thereof, or after a predetermined time of lighting. The lamp system includes a rotation mechanism connected to the lamp assembly and configured to rotate around the axes of the discharge lamp. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
