Abstract PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical recording method that can record information in a short period by reducing the test time before recording, an optical recording device, a one-chip CPU element, and a computer program therefor. SOLUTION: Prior to the actual information recording, it makes test recording on a first recording layer 11 when recording information on the first recording layer 11 and finds out the recording pulse conditions suitable to the first recording layer 11 within a predetermined test period. Then, it makes test recording on a second recording layer 12 when recording information on the second recording layer 12 and finds out the recording pulse conditions of the second recording layer 12 within a less period than the test period for the first recording layer 11. Thus, it can reduce the test time to find the recording pulse conditions for the second recording layer and can record information in a short period by reducing the test time before the information recording.
