Abstract | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing an ink composition in which storage stability and discharge stability are good and a stable good image can be obtained. SOLUTION: A method for producing an ink composition contains a step of dispersing materials comprising at least a coloring agent, a thermoplastic polymer having a glass transition temperature (Tg) of 30-100°C and an amphoteric block copolymer into a solvent to give a dispersion and a step of treating the dispersion by heating at higher than the glass transition temperature of the thermoplastic polymer. A method for producing an ink composition contains a step of dispersing materials comprising at least a coloring agent, a monomer which is converted into a thermoplastic polymer having Tg of 30-100°C by polymerization, and an amphiphilic block copolymer into a solvent to give a dispersion, a step of polymerizing the monomer and a step of treating the dispersion by heating at higher than Tg of the thermoplastic polymer.
