Abstract | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a character recognizing circuit for recognizing a communication velocity and a character format, based on an AT command of a start-stop synchronization system. SOLUTION: A character recognizing circuit 10 is a circuit for performing AT character analysis on an AT command indicated by a received serial input signal 108 and in a character detection circuit 22, a first character and a second character are detected from the serial input signal 108. In a character identification circuit 24, it is identified that the first character is "A" or "a" and it is identified that the second character is "T", "t" and "/". Furthermore, the combination of the first character and the second character is identified and in accordance with a result of this identification, a character format is selected by a character format selection circuit 26 and set to a universal asynchronous transmission/reception circuit 42.
