Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method capable of selectively, surely breaking down a metallic or semiconducting carbon nanotube by simple and easy way. SOLUTION: The semiconducting carbon nanotube 2 or metallic carbon nanotube 3 is selectively broken down by irradiating the mixture thereof with an energy beam 5 such as laser beam.
